  • You found me! I’m so glad…

    A little about my biz, so you can start stalking ahead of the game:

    It's called BDphotography not only because it rhymes (tho' i am a Suess fan) or because those are my initials, but because they are also the initials of my husband, our two daughters and our son. without them, i'm nothing. they are the reason i do things the way i do. i LOVE photography and everything that comes with it. if i had the leisure i think i might just do it for free. in fact...in my head, that's just what i do. you don't pay for my service, you pay for the time i spend away from my family: planning, traveling, shooting, editing...

    But welcome to the {B}log! stop by often and you can keep up with my most recent adventures in photography, meet my amazing clients, and occasionally take a glimpse into my personal life, because what proud mama can resist a little bragging? i'm sure your family is just as fabulous as mine and the ones you will see here. i bet you actually prefer them to us, but you are biased :) either way, i can't wait to meet them! for now...kick off your shoes, have some more brownies, browse around, and make some silly faces. no one can see, but it's great practice for when i get my lens on you.

ok seriously.  if i tried to tell you how amazing ashley neal is you would think i’m an exaggerator.  and her poor blessed mother must at least rub some moms the wrong way with all the bragging i imagine she has to do.  i’ll let the facts speak for themselves.  ashley’s resume reads a little something like this:-4

-2-2survivor of S.W.A.T. team/bank robber shoot out… make that two of us!  our shoot was delayed by three hours as a crazed gunman held up traffic on I-75 and police shut down all access to our photo location.  that’s just a fun anecdote, probably not helpful on college apps, Ash. -2homecoming queen-1-2

SisnamedJen - Don’t know her, but I wish I did. The photos (like always) are so totally awesome. (not in a sarcastic way) Gorgeous girl photoged by a gorgeous girl.

Erica B - Fabulous job Brigette! What a beautiful young lady, with all the neg we hear this was refreshing! Our young people will hold our future in their hands, it :) looks like a good place to be. Cheers!

Right now is a pretty great time in my sister’s life.  She happy, smart, productive, blossoming, growing, learning and loving.  I’m honored to be able to freeze these moments in her journey.  Right now she has a great guy that makes her smile {thank you!!} and she spends her hours with one foot in high school and the other at college.  She’s taking courses ahead of her years, no surprise, and excelling.  She’s headed toward her high school senior year as a lifeguard, marching band field commander, and part time college student again.  Her big sister couldn’t be more shamelessly proud.-2

p.s. just so you all know, going in with your friends for a limo to prom/homecoming is SO cliche.  all the trendsetters are going in on custom photo sessions.  just sayin.:)

My awesome Godson, my Mekhi love is three now.  I was lucky enough to be flown out to gorgeous Colorado for some portrait work with a lovely couple, and since i was on a roll, acting all independent and jetsetting, i added a quick jog over to Nevada on the way home to see my Vegas family.  It took a little coaxing to get them out of the city and over to the “ghost town” in the mountains but it was obviously worth it.  Tiffany kept warning me that the hills have eyes, but all i saw was this superstar. -5-4-2-4-3-2-3-2-2he gave away my kisses to his birth mama.  apparently going thru labor and doing the hard everyday mothering day in and day out for three years has its perks.  whateves.  i have video proof of Mekhi confessing his bunches of love for me.  i’ll have to see what i can do about linking that here…ah yes, click exhibit a -2-1-2-1-5-2

i have a feeling i’ve missed out on alot, not meeting Lawana until now.  she came thru the website with a great idea- to celebrate her birthday with a photo session with her nearest and dearest.  i happily obliged and was blessed to spend a frosty morning meeting her charming son, glowing sister and best friends.

he really impressed me as a mature little man who does a good job of taking care of his mama.

quite the gentleman indeed.  it was my pleasure to shoot the little ham, and get him out of his morning classes at school:)

-2-2next up was Lawana with her girls.  i always love witnessing the energy that a bonded group like this shares.-4

and i love having them tell me embarassing childhood stories about the guest of honor:):):)-3

such a gracious host to give each of the ladies their own time in the spotlight.  especially after they brought up those old jeans and the skating rink LOL;)

i’m baaaackkk {{cincinnati dayton modern 6 month photographer}}

-3-2it has been brought to my attention that I’ve been a very bag blogger.  demanding fans (whom i adore) are tired of loading my page to find the same pictures as the days and weeks before.  i don’t deny i’ve been slacking.  i don’t post every shoot because spending time with my family is more important… and then so is getting enough sleep to be a human incubator, and also having enough time to actually shoot more sessions.  But since you are being persistent, and i’m actually physically back in Ohio for a bit, and my family is back to school and work, and Ohio’s rain is keeping me from shooting, and the baby seems satisfied with me sleeping until 11:30 today, how’s about i try to do a quick recap of what you’ve missed.  yes?  do you forgive?  ok thanks:)

 

first up is sweet 6 month Jacob.  i really don’t love shooting indoors except for newborn sessions.  actually i loathe it… but Ohio’s weather is wonky and sometimes magic comes from being pushed out of your comfort zone.  we will do a real family session outdoors when it’s consistently warm, but he was only 6 months old once so here’s what we came up with!  he showed me some of his favorite toys, we danced around the kitchen and tempted the kitty with treats.  all in all, it was hard work but so worth it.  i would give anything for some classic pics of me with my girls like this in just diapers and smiles.-2-1-2-3-2-2-1

cara, i can’t wait to hook back up with you guys and see what he thinks of the great outdoors.  looking forward to our next session!

 

**if you all are wondering, my own baby boy is coming along quite nicely.  approximately 80 days left for him to grow from his current 2.5 lbs chinese cabbage size to my perfect little real live cabbage patch doll at the start of august.  for now he is busy practicing his tae kwon do moves out on me so he has a chance against his senior yellow belt sister when he arrives;) **
