so i did Hailey’s newborn pics last year. this image is from that shoot and has been marked as a favorite by more people than any other image i’ve done since. so Hailey, your feet are adored by many look how big she is now!

she did so well in her big girl session. what now? hmmmmm….i say we take her for a treat!rock candy sounded like a great plan but we all underestimated how “melty” it would be. Hailey didn’t seem to mind, but whoever came up with “it’s like taking candy from a baby” really underestimated something too and just a note, i’m a big sucker for hats. if you bring a hat to your session, you can count on it making the blog. i love this one!

it’s so exciting to see my newborns grow into their own personalities. i’m thankful to be part of their story, honored to be chosen as the one to record it, and grateful that they remind me to appreciate the daunting everyday parts of being a mommy because my own babies are growing up just as quickly. thanks for sharing Hailey with me!

let me start by saying that this one might take a while! molly maloney. aw, cutest name ever. her mom called and said she wanted something way cooler than the normal lean-against-a-tree-senior-pics. music to my ears! to me that means, carte blanche and the perfect opportunity to do all the shooting i had filed away in “one of these days…” She was the perfect girl, and today was the day.

*speaking of music, i think that pics are best viewed to the tune of your favorites. i can’t stand those sites where they impose their own collection into the background, so i suggest opening another window and tapping that wonderful resource called pandora.com. get your custom sound going, then come back and add the visual dimension to your sensory stimulation bliss. go ahead, i’ll wait*

ready? now. i know it’s overkill but i started with 50 FAVES. it was all i could do to narrow to these 15. her cd is maxed out at 6.3 billion images she rocked so many sweet locations for meum, really with this beauty? fave straight out of camera!work thisand that. thank you very much.dreamcometrue!laundrymat or laundromat ? {debatable} either way, i’m SO excited to move this to the “done it” file. no, make that the “revisit with my next rockstar client” file. we found the greatest colors!and the prettiest patch of natural light on earth

student becomes the teacher {2010 senior}

this is Allyson. don’t you love the way that’s spelled?she might be your child’s teacher soon. i was so impressed to learn that she’s part of her high school’s teacher academy and already works with a class. i’m very thankful for the opportunities i had like that when i was a senior. it’s invaluable to get real-life experience in your chosen profession early in the game. if it’s not a good fit, you know before it’s too late. if it is, you have all the confidence you need to dive in head first. it’s refreshing to meet someone who has a hard time NOT smiling most of her pics turned out like this!but her mom and i thought i would be great to pull some drama and “next top model” looks out of her. work. it. out. FIERCE!!

very forrest gump, in the best ways possible this is billy and megand this is the date they’ve chosen to join together in holy matrimony they told me a little of their story and how they’ve known each other since like junior high. we talked about their future children and how their first son would be william the fourth { i just got a nephew that has a IV behind his name! } i learned some military dress vocabulary and we {billy excluded} discovered a common affinity for the gilmore girls. meg had great ideas and style, we share a love of photography and they were so up for anything i asked. this one, i swear, feels like a picture their grandkids might find in an old box someday. gotta love a guy who serves and honors his country. thanks to you both for the sacrifices your family will make for our comfort and freedom.

i like them. alot. so i took ‘em to the candy shop and got them a little treat. below is exactly why i wanna keep them. they let me get the shots i wanted, billy worked his funny faces for me, then when i wasn’t looking they swapped and meg suddenly had facial hair :-{) definitely sealed the deal for me! i had such a blast and as we walked back to our cars i beamed with happiness. how awesome it was to have met them- one of those fateful meetings where you just “click” and could easily become fast friends. my heart sank seconds later when they told me they’ll soon be moving across the country. i already envisioned a shoot of them and baby william IV! but meg, i’ve thought about it and all is not lost. surely you have to come back and visit family right? just work a session with me into each visit itinerary and i’ll be happy k? i can’t wait for you to see the rest of these. good luck with your wedding! you are such a great couple.

i was very excited when Vicki emailed and said she wanted pics of her twins done. my pleasure! i love twins. have i mentioned i wish i had twins? how many times can i say the word twins? ok… so we met at the park, and little man was asleep in his carseat. he woke up and found himself here.

before we knew it, the sun went down… but when life gives you lemons you make lemonade. when dusk gives you shadows you make silhouettes!

to my newest 3 year old buddies: mom told me you haven’t stopped asking to go back and play at the park with me! makes my heart smile. i can’t wait until next time either…

six years later

so i’ve heard of moms getting a little behind or even dreading the family picture thing, but seriously?! it had been 6 years since their last family portrait! isn’t little Rachel 7? i’m so confused. here they are:

if it had been that long, i’m guessing their last “me and you” images are probably from the wedding. i always like to remind moms and dads that it was at one point just the two of them, and how special that is to remember. shannon tried to convince me that she’s not photogenic, and also that she’d had the most tragic visit to the salon the day before. i wasn’t buying it

i could share a bunch of these two playing. their relationship reminds me very much of my own girls. taylor has such pretty eyes and very cool braces which my girls covet and i love how rachel’s little face bursts into a contagious smile.

i was excited to get the report that taylor is already shopping for accessories that she “HAS to buy” for her next photo shoot. definitely a model in the making, i called that when we were doing her closeups. she’s gonna rock her senior pics so hard in a few years!

meet emily. beautiful blue eyed ball of spunk.i had a cancellation over the weekend and after just a few minutes of texting and messaging Sunday night, i found emily, who wanted to do senior pics. apparently she’s crazy like me and decided that the very next morning was as good a time as any! she didn’t have much time, but man was she prepared. she brought all kinds of cool stuff to show her personality, and she was an open book for me so we had a blast. she wanted to start out by including some shots with her bible and church tee. i love it. she happens to go to the same amazing place i do www.originschurch.tvi loved her scarf and hat, dress and boots funk.i could post a hundred of her just being gorgeous, but these silly ones really make me smile.umm, intense beauty. are kidding me with those eyes?my fave? wait. ah who am i kidding, i can never choose one fave.reminds me of that ballad my high school bff and i would cry and sing to each other ” i hope you dance”. em, i hope you soar!

i always wanted twins so i fully expected to be jealous of her double blessing, but actually, you can’t feel anything but admiration for a new mama with her hands this full!

still 5 weeks from their due date! i’d say that makes ‘em not only my youngest twins, but my youngest clients ever.
